In those workshop hold in 12 different schools of Finland we have shown a bit of the Native American culture, more specificaly from the Métis-Wabanaki from Québec.

We had handcraft worshop with Mimelistag, story telling with Jaana kuusela, lecture, music and danse by Riel Huaorani and Yovan Nagwetch. The children reacted very positively and with a dynamic interactivity.

A special attention was put on the relation ancient cultures like Native American cultures had with their environnement, the respect they hold for their "Mother Earth" and "Father Sky" as well as the harmony they kept with all living creatures.

We also presented the activities hold by Young People's Planet in the rest of the world and the effort made by several groups to find and apply solutions to their local chalenges concerning development, social and environmental issues.

We hope that the future will allow the Finnish children to establish contact with other Young People's Planet groups and, why not, to develop common projet for a better planet!

METIS-WABANAKI CULTURAL SCHOOLS' TOUR IN FINLAND
Organized by the Organization Aborigin

Hello, you who are involved in the Young People's Planet movement in Africa, Europe or America.
Once again, your Transnational representative has a chance to talk to you all and this time it is from a Nordic country, Finland.

The tour in Finland will be manifold: The first big goal will be first to take this opportunity to highlight the ancient cultures, particularly in representing the people of Quebec Métis-Wabanaki. My brother Yovan Nagwetch, who lives in Finland for many years is the President of Aborigin and local ambassador of our culture. Moreover, it is also a founder of the Young People's Planet movement in 1985. This representation will be through the installation of a goôom (tipi) in school yards. In this space, we will make an animation with a Native American tale told by Jaana Eelamis, followed by a Wabanaki craft workshop made by Sophie Mimelistag and a few songs Wabanaki sung by Yovan Nagwetch, Sophie Mimelistag and myself.

I take this opportunity to remind you that the movement of Young People's Planet was born in Italy, and toured several European countries, including Finland. During this walk, a tree was planted for each kilometer in collaboration with many European organizations advocating for the environment. From 1985 to 1995, activities of the Young People's Planet continued in European soil.
So this return to Finland, more than 15 years later for me, is somehow a return to the source of the movement.Leer más

Finlande: Suomen Nuorten Maa

Suomen Nuorten Maa on nyt aloittanut toimintansa!

Aluksi toimintamme keskittyy tukemaan Koulu-Metsäpuutarhan perustamista Nicaraguaan.

Nicaraguan Koulu-Metsäpuutarha -projektin tavoitteena on tarjota peruskoulutusta paikallisille köyhien perheiden lapsille ja olla paikka, jonne köyhät perheet voivat tulla oppimaan tietoja ja taitoja omavaraisuutensa lisäämiseksi ja elantonsa hankkimiseksi: mm. puutarhanhoito, villikasvien käyttö, kestävä perinnerakentaminen luonnonmateriaaleista sekä käsityötaidot. Tarkoituksena on luoda kestävän elämäntavan keskus, jonka koulutustarjonta kattaa laajasti elämän eri osa-alueet, poistaa köyhyyttä sekä lisää ihmisten ja luonnon hyvinvointia.

Tervetuloa mukaan!
